Alexandria, VA – Pennsylvania Independent, a news bureau reporting on the happenings in the Pennsylvania capitol, was admitted into the Pennsylvania Legislative Correspondents Association (PLCA). PA Independent is a project of the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity, a national non-profit journalism organization.
“PA Independent has proven itself to be a terrific news organization dedicated to uncovering the truth in Pennsylvania. Their admittance into the PLCA is a testament to the work that they have done to keep their elected officials accountable and report on the news that matters to the people,” said Jason Stverak, President of the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity.
The Pennsylvania Legislative Correspondents Association is the oldest, continuously organized state Capitol press corps in the United States. PLCA represents print, broadcast and online journalists who cover Pennsylvania state government either full-time or part-time.
“We’re extremely proud to be the newest members of the oldest state Capitol press corps in the United States. We strive to meet the high standards which have been established by the PLCA for its members and we will continue to meet those standards on a daily basis,” said Eric Boehm, Managing Editor of the PA Independent.
Pennsylvania Independent announced its official separation from the Commonwealth Foundation and its new relationship with the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity in January 2011.
