Presidential Candidate Rep. McCotter to Speak at Presidential Series in Iowa

Alexandria, VA – Presidential candidate Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI) will appear in the 2012 Presidential Candidate Speaker Series sponsored by the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity on Thursday, July 28th in Des Moines. Franklin Center’s journalist Lynn Campbell of IowaPolitics.com will moderate the forum.

“The Franklin Center is once again honored to be able to participate in such an important event. The previous Romney event demonstrated how valuable these forums are to not only the candidates but the voting public,” said Franklin Center President Jason Stverak. “At the Franklin Center, we are always telling the news. Now we have the opportunity to help make the news.”

Additional sponsors for the event include the Greater Des Moines Partnership, Mediacom in partnership with the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs. This is the second Presidential Series for this group of sponsors. The first was held on May 27th with former Governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney.

“Iowans are intensely proud and passionate of their role in helping to select our nation’s leader every four years,” said Martha Willits, CEO and President of the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “Our ‘first in the nation’ status also carries great responsibility to become acquainted with the candidates, educated on the issues, and vocal on the issues important to Iowa voters.  That’s why we are pleased to partner with local and statewide groups to host this Des Moines-area series.”

Attendees to the series will have the opportunity to submit questions via social media on the Partnership;s website. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
