The historic June 5 recalls are just around the corner and tweeters across the country have used the hash tag #WIRecall to talk about it.

Thanks to a new tool from Visual.ly/create, we can see what they’ve been saying, how many tweets have used it, and who has had the most influence.

The term #wirecall appeared 21,916 times in the past month, 3,159 times on the peak day, and the most influential user on the last day was @Politico.

Why is this interesting?

Because this shows how much momentum not just within Wisconsin- but nationally- the recall race is picking up. Politico is a very D.C.-centric publication so for them to have the most influence on any given day means this race is a big freakin’ deal, in the words of Joe Biden.

On June 5 Wisconsin will vote to recall the most number of elected officials ever- not just at one time but versus the entire preceding Wisconsin history combined- largely due to the controversial budget repair bill Gov. Scott Walker passed that rescinded collective bargaining “rights” for unions and forced them to contribute a small amount more to their pension and health care, still significantly lower than what the private sector pays.

Some other states followed suit after Walker’s controversial decision, which could signal a moving tied, so many elected officials across the country will be watching the June 5 election with anticipation on what it means for them.

To stay up-to-date on what people are saying, you might want to search twitter for #WIRecall.
