Orlando, Fla—The Franklin Center for Government & Public Integrity and the Heritage Foundation are proud to announce Michelle Malkin, syndicated columnist and Fox News Channel contributor, as the winner of the second annual Breitbart Award. Malkin was honored during the Krieble Dinner on Thursday, April 25 at the Omni Orlando Resort in Orlando, Fla. The award was presented by Heritage Foundation President, Sen. Jim Demint, and Franklin Center President Jason Stverak.
“Michelle Malkin is a champion in the pursuit of truth and accountability who has tirelessly worked to expose corruption and waste in government,” said Erik Telford, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Communications at the Franklin Center. “She never hesitates to speak truth to power, debate issues that the mainstream media and political insiders would prefer to sweep under the rug, and empower citizens to join in her cause. Her work exemplifies Andrew Breitbart’s fiery spirit and advances his legacy.”
Andrew Breitbart pioneered a new media revolution that transformed journalism and the political landscape: a tradition that carries on daily at Breitbart News Network. BNN’s President and CEO Larry Solov, who was in attendance along with Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon, said “We are extremely grateful to The Franklin Center for Government & Public Integerity and the Heritage Foundation for honoring Andrew’s legacy with this award and we congratulate Michelle Malkin for her uncompromising and relentless journalism.”
“The Breitbart Award is an opportunity to honor those who advocate for the truth,” said Robert Bluey, Director of Heritage’s Center for Media and Public Policy. “Andrew Breitbart changed the way we consume media. These honorees are continuing his legacy through their constant dedication to tackling the issues others often shy away from.”
